CACHET's History
Cachet Youth Group is Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated , Omicron Mu Omega Chapter’s Signature Program. After Omicron Mu Omega was chartered in 1984, Cachet Youth Group was established in 1985. Under the musical training of Evelyn Hamilton, the hymn, “Cachet Members True” was born which is song by members today. The purpose of Cachet is to enrich and improve the lives of girls ages 13-18 within the African American community by building character and success for adulthood with an emphasis on education, mentorship, community service, family, scholarship, the arts, economic empowerment, economic empowerment, and health. In 2017, the mission changed to develop young ladies into social advocate leaders through real world experiences. Cachet Youth Group has grown tremendously from its original 5 members and welcomed numerous young ladies through the program. Annually, Cachet participates in community service across DFW for Super Saturday and host prom for Dallas senior citizens with St. Philip’s School & Community Center to name a few. Frequently, Cachet promotes personal development and provide multi-faceted workshops targeted at adolescent concerns and social awareness.

Pink Ice is an annual Showcase and Scholarship event that CACHET presents at year end. The first “Pink Ice Affair” created by two members of Omicron Mu Omega Chapter - Traci Washington and Angela Butler was held in 1995. Over the years, the event has transitioned into an event that prepares the girls will skills and qualities that will help them succeed in the years to come. Continuously, participants are awarded scholarships to assist with future college expenses and learn how to fundraise for the scholarship awards. The showcase provides exposure to the arts including drama, dance, song, and various other expressions to creatively illustrate the theme of the year.
