I am interested in becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® How do I get started with the process?The sorority’s official intake process is by invitation only through one of our local graduate chapters. This is not an open application process and requires a member to recommend you for membership. Membership may not be solicited. Individuals may attend events, such as forums, cultural presentations, and social activities, when open to the public. Cultural Music Exchange
Only the Best
Youth Leadership Institute cohorts expand their cultural experience attending the annual Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra of Houston in concert at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters. The Scott Joplin concert features the talents of youth ages 8-15. Youth demonstrated their skills through song or playing instruments as they played classical, jazz, and hip hop selections.

African Art Exploration
Understand and learn about different cultures
The young leaders of YLI went an art exploration to learn about the African culture and the art of African mask making. Cohorts created their version of African mask art by making 3D African mask creations.

Civic and Social Awareness
Only the Best
Youth Leadership Institute cohorts expand their civic and social awareness by visiting the African American Civil Rights Museum located in Southern Dallas. The cohorts walked through history from years past to learn about historic icons of the civil rights movement.
